BEBE MAGAZINE ISSUE 2
OPEN CALL

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:  12 JUNE 2026Bebe Books is looking for contributors, graphic designer(s) and an editor for the second issue of Bebe Magazine. This is a paid opportunity.

Bebe Magazine is a queer publication that brings attention to diverse queer practices from various peripheries of Europe*. The overarching curatorial idea of this issue is based around the open-ended prefix “dis-” as in not, opposite, apart.

Through “dis-” as a framework we anticipate exploring the possibility of negation, refusal, and undoing: disagree, disappear, disconnect, disorder, disable, disadvantage, disobedience, disorientation, displacement, and dis-identification. This root carries built-in friction: "dis-" can negate or simply separate, and contributors will pull in different directions.

This open call is organised by Ruud van Moorleghem and Mert Şen of Bebe Books and guest jurors Shia Rowan Conlon and Iona Carmine Roisin of Trans Library Helsinki and Almanac Press. This same jury will work with the selected contributors throughout the following stages of the publication process.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  1. CONTRIBUTORS: works-in-progress, ideas and pitches related to / responding to the curatorial theme and terms. Send us: interviews, reviews, essays, image essays, comics, photography, visual art, portfolios, poetry, letters, film stills, or anything else we couldn’t imagine or expect!

  2. EDITOR: you will edit and arrange the contents provided by the contributors. This job requires knowledge and sensitivity to queer topics that will be discussed in the magazine, as well as strong writing and organisational skills.

  3. GRAPHIC DESIGNER(S): you will work in collaboration with the Bebe magazine team to create the visual language for the magazine and contribute throughout the entire publication process, from page design to production. This position requires experience with printed publications and magazines. Capability in lettering is a plus.

*Europe is a political concept with an inherent colonial history. Although the scope of this magazine is limited to practices within Europe, we aim to highlight various diasporic creatives situated on the margins of this continent.
